BUILD THE FOUNDATIONS FOR ENGLISH SUCCESS

English is more than reading a book or writing an essay.

It's how we understand what other people are saying, make sense of what we read, communicate our own ideas and express ourselves clearly.

Strong English skills support learning across the curriculum — but they also help learners become more confident communicators, critical thinkers and independent learners.

At Rebel, we help learners develop the skills to read with understanding, write with purpose and communicate with confidence.

We identify where your learner is now, understand what they need to develop and build tuition around those areas.

WE TEACH THE SKILLS. WE DEVELOP THE THINKING. WE HELP LEARNERS MOVE FORWARD.

ENGLISH TUITION BUILT AROUND YOUR LEARNER

Every learner brings different strengths, experiences and challenges to English.

Tuition can be tailored around:

  • CURRENT LEVEL

  • READING & COMPREHENSION

  • WRITING & EXPRESSION

  • SPELLING, GRAMMAR & PUNCTUATION

  • VOCABULARY & LANGUAGE

  • LEARNING GOALS

  • CURRICULUM & EXAMS

Whether your learner needs to strengthen foundational literacy, improve their writing, develop their understanding of texts or prepare for GCSE English, we focus on the skills that will make the biggest difference.

Your learner doesn't have to fit the tuition. The tuition fits the learner.

READ DEEPLY. THINK CRITICALLY. WRITE WITH PURPOSE.

Good English isn't just about knowing the rules. It's about being able to understand what a writer is saying, question ideas, develop your own response and communicate it effectively.

Our tutors encourage learners to:

  • Read closely and critically

  • Ask questions about texts

  • Develop vocabulary

  • Explore different interpretations

  • Discuss and debate ideas

  • Explain their thinking

  • Select evidence effectively

  • Experiment with language and style

  • Adapt writing for different audiences and purposes

  • Learn from mistakes

  • Develop their own voice

  • Become more independent readers and writers

We want to move learners from:

“I don't know what to write.” to:

“I know what I want to say — and I know how to express it.”

Every session is tutor-led.

Our tutors teach, explain, question, listen and adapt in real time. If a learner doesn't understand a text, we work through it together. If their writing lacks structure, we identify what is missing and teach them how to improve it. If they struggle to explain their ideas, we help them develop the vocabulary, evidence and reasoning to do so.

And when they're ready to move forward, we do.

ENGLISH CAN SUPPORT MORE THAN ENGLISH

Strong literacy has a wider impact on learning. The ability to understand questions, interpret information, explain ideas and communicate clearly can support learners across their education.

IT'S ABOUT GIVING LEARNERS THE SKILLS TO UNDERSTAND, THINK AND COMMUNICATE.

FOCUS GROUP ENGLISH

Our Focus Groups bring together 3–6 learners studying English at a broadly similar level.  When you register your interest, we'll ask about:

  • Year group

  • Current English level

  • Learning needs

  • Preferred days and times

We'll use this information to match learners who are studying the same subject and are at a broadly similar stage.

FOCUS GROUPS START WITH 3 LEARNERS

If there is a suitable match but a Focus Group hasn't reached three learners yet, your learner can start with 1:2 tuition at £125 per learner per month while we continue matching. Once a suitable third learner joins, they can move into the Focus Group at £99 per learner per month.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT TO GET STARTED.

WHAT CAN CHANGE WITH THE RIGHT SUPPORT?
  • Stronger reading and comprehension

  • More effective writing

  • Better vocabulary and language

  • Greater accuracy

  • Stronger analysis and reasoning

  • Greater confidence

  • Greater independence

  • Better academic outcomes

READY TO HELP YOUR LEARNER MAKE PROGRESS?

Whether your learner needs support with literacy, has specific skills to develop, wants to improve their grades or is preparing for SATs or GCSEs, we'll start by understanding where they are now.
