LEARNING BY DOING

Personal development and employability skills are most meaningful when learners have opportunities to use them in practice.

At Rebel, learning may be connected to creative projects, enterprise activities, community projects, social action, digital media, events and practical challenges.

For example, a learner interested in music might develop digital skills and presentation skills through creating and promoting a project. A learner interested in business might explore budgeting, customer experience, marketing and enterprise. A learner preparing for employment might focus on communication, teamwork, workplace experiences and career planning.

SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE

Through the programme, learners can develop:

CONFIDENCE • COMMUNICATION • TEAMWORK • PROBLEM-SOLVING • ORGANISATION • DIGITAL SKILLS • SELF-AWARENESS • INDEPENDENCE • RESILIENCE

The aim is to help learners recognise what they can do, develop the skills they need and build a clearer sense of where they want to go next.

A FLEXIBLE PATHWAY

The PDE qualification provides the accredited framework, while the wider King’s Trust Achieve curriculum gives learners opportunities to explore additional areas that are relevant to their lives and aspirations.

Learning can therefore be shaped around the individual rather than requiring every learner to follow exactly the same programme.
